20 but also, if a just man, turned from his justice, has done iniquity, I will set a stumbling-block before him; he himself shall die, because you did not announce to him; in his sin he shall die, and the just deeds of his which he did shall not be in memory; but his blood I will require from your hand.
13 et scietis quia ego Dominus cum fuerint interfecti vestri in medio idolorum vestrorum in circuitu ararum vestrarum in omni colle excelso in cunctis summitatibus montium et subtus omne lignum nemorosum et subtus universam quercum frondosam locum ubi accenderunt tura redolentia universis idolis suis
3 et emissa similitudo manus adprehendit me in cincinno capitis mei et elevavit me spiritus inter terram et caelum et adduxit in Hierusalem in visione Dei iuxta ostium interius quod respiciebat aquilonem ubi erat statutum idolum zeli ad provocandam aemulationem
3 and a likeness as of a hand was sent forth and apprehended me by the lock of my head, and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me into Jerusalem in a vision of God, near the inner gate that looked toward the north, where the idol of jealousy was set to provoke emulation.
16 and he brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord, and behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the vestibule and the altar, as it were twenty-five men, having their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces to the east, and they were worshipping at the rising of the sun
4 for this cause speak to them, and you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God, man, man of the house of Israel, who has set his impurities in his heart and has established the scandal of his iniquity before his face, and has come to the prophet, inquiring of me through him, I, the Lord, will answer him according to the multitude of his impurities.
7 quia homo homo de domo Israhel et de proselytis quicumque advena fuerit in Israhel si alienatus fuerit a me et posuerit idola sua in corde suo et scandalum iniquitatis suae statuerit contra faciem suam et venerit ad prophetam ut interroget per eum me ego Dominus respondebo ei per me
7 For any man, any man of the house of Israel, and of the proselytes, whoever is a sojourner in Israel—if he has become alienated from me and has set his idols in his heart, and has established the scandal of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire of me through him—I, the Lord, will answer him by myself.
24 but if the just man shall turn himself away from his righteousness and do iniquity according to all the abominations which the impious is accustomed to do, shall he live? all his justices which he had done will not be remembered; in the prevarication wherein he has prevaricated and in his sin which he has sinned, in them he shall die.
28 and when I had brought them into the land over which I had lifted up my hand to give to them, they saw every high hill and every leafy tree, and there they immolated their victims, and there they gave the provocation of their oblation, and there they set the odor of their sweetness, and they poured out their libations.
47 and you shall say to the southern woodland, Hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I myself will kindle in you a fire, and I will burn up in you every green wood and every dry wood; the flame of kindling shall not be extinguished, and in it every face shall be burned from the south unto the north
4 In your blood, which has been effused by you, you have been delinquent, and in your idols which you made you have been polluted; and you have made your days draw near, and you have brought the time of your years; therefore I have given you as an opprobrium to the nations and a derision to all the lands.
3 and you shall say to the sons of Ammon: Hear the word of the Lord God; thus says the Lord God: because you said, “Aha, aha,” over my sanctuary because it has been polluted, and over the land of Israel because it has been desolated, and over the house of Judah because they have been led into captivity
27 your riches and your treasures and your manifold merchandise, your sailors and your governors (pilots), who held your wares and presided over your people, your men of war also who were in you, with all your multitude that is in your midst, shall fall in the heart of the sea on the day of your ruin
12 and foreigners will cut him down, the most cruel of the nations, and they will cast him upon the mountains, and in all the valleys his branches will fall, and his thickets will be broken on all the cliffs of the land, and all the peoples of the earth will withdraw from his shade and will abandon him
14 wherefore all the trees by the waters shall not be lifted up in their own height, nor shall they set their sublimity among the wooded and the frondose; nor shall all that are irrigated by waters stand in their loftiness, because all are delivered over to death, to the ultimate earth, in the midst of the sons of men, to those who go down into the pit
18 To whom have you been likened, O illustrious and sublime one, among the trees of delight? Behold, you have been brought down with the trees of delight to the uttermost land; in the midst of the uncircumcised you will sleep with those who have been slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord God.
2 son of man, take up a lament over Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and you shall say to him: you are likened to a lion of the nations and to a dragon that is in the sea; and you were stirring with your horn in your rivers, and you were confounding the waters with your feet, and you were trampling their rivers.
25 in the midst of the slain they have placed her bed; among all her peoples, around her, her sepulcher—all these uncircumcised and killed by the sword—for they had given terror in the land of the living—and they bore their ignominy with those who descend into the pit; they are set in the midst of the slain
12 you therefore, son of man, say to the sons of your people: the justice of the just will not deliver him on whatever day he sins, and the impiety of the impious will not harm him on whatever day he turns back from his impiety, and the just will not be able to live by his justice on whatever day he sins
8 As I live, says the Lord God, because for this cause my flocks have been made into prey, and my sheep into the devouring of all the beasts of the field, because there was no pastor, nor indeed did the pastors seek out my flock, but the pastors were feeding themselves, and my flocks they did not feed.
10 thus says the Lord God: behold, I myself am against the shepherds; I will require my flock at their hand, and I will make them cease, so that they may no longer pasture the flock, nor will the shepherds any longer pasture themselves; and I will deliver my flock from their mouth, and they will no longer be for them as food
19 you shall speak to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel which are joined to him, and I will give them together with the stick of Judah, and I will make them into one stick, and they shall be one in his hand
8 after many days you will be visited; in the latter years you will come to the land that has returned from the sword, that has been congregated from many peoples, to the mountains of Israel, which were desolate continually; this one has been brought out from the peoples, and they have dwelt in it confidently, all of them
20 and the fishes of the sea will be shaken from before my face, and the birds of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and every creeping thing that moves upon the ground, and all men who are upon the face of the earth; and the mountains will be overthrown, and the hedges will fall, and every wall in the land will collapse.
17 tu ergo fili hominis haec dicit Dominus Deus dic omni volucri et universis avibus cunctisque bestiis agri convenite properate concurrite undique ad victimam meam quam ego immolo vobis victimam grandem super montes Israhel ut comedatis carnes et bibatis sanguinem
17 you, therefore, son of man, thus says the Lord God: say to every bird and to all the fowls and to all the beasts of the field: assemble, make haste, run together from every side to my victim which I am immolating for you, a great victim upon the mountains of Israel, that you may eat flesh and drink blood
13 and he said to me: the treasury-chambers of the north and the treasury-chambers of the south, which are before the separate building—these are the holy treasury-chambers, in which the priests who draw near to the Lord eat the most holy things; there they shall place the most holy things and the offering for sin and for guilt, for the place is holy.
7 he said to me, Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place of the soles of my feet, where I dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel forever; and the house of Israel shall no longer defile my holy name, they and their kings, by their fornications and by the ruins of their kings and in the high places.
11 and let them blush from all the things which they have done; the figure of the house and its fabric, its exits and its entrances, and its whole description, and all its precepts, and its entire order, and all its laws—show to them, and you shall write before their eyes; and let them keep all its descriptions and its precepts and do them
7 principi quoque hinc et inde in separationem sanctuarii et in possessionem civitatis contra faciem separationis sanctuarii et contra faciem possessionis urbis a latere maris usque ad mare et a latere orientis usque ad orientem longitudinem autem iuxta unamquamque partium a termino occidentali usque ad terminum orientalem
7 and to the prince also, on this side and on that, adjoining the separation of the sanctuary and the possession of the city, opposite the face of the separation of the sanctuary and opposite the face of the possession of the city, from the side of the sea unto the sea, and from the side of the east unto the east; moreover the length shall be according to each of the portions, from the western boundary unto the eastern boundary
17 and upon the prince shall be the holocausts and the sacrifice and the libations on the solemnities and on the Kalends and on the Sabbaths, in all the solemnities of the house of Israel; he himself shall make the sin-offering and the holocaust and the peace-offerings, to make expiation for the house of Israel
2 and the prince shall enter by the way of the vestibule of the gate from outside, and he shall stand on the threshold of the gate, and the priests shall make his holocaust and his peace-offerings, and he shall adore upon the threshold of the gate, and he shall go out; but the gate shall not be shut until evening
9 and when the people of the land shall enter in the sight of the Lord on the solemnities, whoever enters by the gate of the north to adore, let him go out by the way of the gate of the south; moreover, whoever enters by the way of the gate of the south, let him go out by the way of the gate of the north; he shall not return by the way of the gate by which he entered, but he shall go out opposite to that one.
12 but when the prince makes a spontaneous holocaust or voluntary peace-offerings to the Lord, the gate that looks toward the east shall be opened for him, and he shall make his holocaust and his peace-offerings as it is accustomed to be done on the sabbath day, and he shall go out; and the gate shall be closed after he has gone out
12 and along the torrent there shall spring up on its banks, on either side, every fruit-bearing tree; its leaf shall not fall away, and its fruit shall not fail; month by month it will bring first-fruits, because its waters go out from the sanctuary; and its fruit shall be for food, and its leaves for medicine.
8 et super terminum Iuda a plaga orientali usque ad plagam maris erunt primitiae quas separabitis viginti quinque milibus latitudinis et longitudinis sicuti singulae partes a plaga orientali usque ad plagam maris et erit sanctuarium in medio eius
8 and upon the border of Judah from the eastern quarter as far as the quarter of the sea there shall be the first-fruits which you shall set apart twenty-five thousand in breadth and in length just like the individual portions from the eastern quarter as far as the quarter of the sea and the sanctuary shall be in its midst
21 but what shall remain will be the prince’s, on every side of the first-fruits of the sanctuary and the possession of the city, over against the twenty-five thousand of the first-fruits up to the eastern boundary, and also toward the sea, over against the twenty-five thousand up to the boundary of the sea; likewise it shall be in the portions of the prince, and the first-fruits of the sanctuary and the sanctuary of the temple shall be in its midst
